LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen will hold a special meeting Wednesday to discuss the next steps for the municipal tax-increment financing district.
It is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Town Office.
The board will meet with either consultant John Cleveland or Nate Libby from the Community Dynamics Corp. in Auburn. The discussion will be on the future plans of the TIF in the coming year, Town Manager Kristal Flagg said.
The state has approved the town’s application to shelter 90 percent of the new value of Central Maine Power Co.’s $14 million upgrade and capture an estimated $8.59 million in new taxes over 30 years. The money would be used for economic development purposes.
The next steps will include a discussion with the Board of Selectmen on which items of the development program they would like to adopt for the next fiscal year, Libby said.
Appropriations from the TIF accounts for development program elements must be adopted by the voters at either the regular town meeting or a special town meeting later this spring, he said.
