The town of Canton — what a mess.

I am writing to express my disbelief with the citizens of Canton. There is a group of citizens who want to do good things for the town and the “other group.” Those people seem to think they can do whatever they want without consequences.

For example: the recent firing of the road foreman.

The foreman was confronted about the lack of managing overtime. He got defensive and said the chairman of the board of selectmen is harassing him. Is that not the job of the selectmen, who residents voted into office to manage the town? How can that be harassment?

People seem to have forgotten that they vote the selectmen into office to manage the town. When they do, all they seem to get is grief from certain individuals.

I do not agree with everything that the board says or does, but it is a majority vote and that is what should be respected.

There is constant complaining on Facebook about different issues, yet nobody shows up at meetings to express their concerns. The only people who faithfully show up are those who think the board is doing a terrible job and want to sit there and complain and nitpick everything that is discussed.

I know that a lot of the people who are complaining on Facebook are good people, but they don’t come to meetings and stand up for what is right.
