MEXICO — Two brothers from Rumford were charged this week with having sex with teen girls after giving them drugs or intoxicants, Mexico police Chief Roy Hodsdon said.
Hodsdon said he arrested Jacob Blood, 20, of 414 Cumberland Street in Rumford on Tuesday on four counts of Class D sexual abuse of a minor and two counts of Class B gross sexual assault. The arrest followed interviews with two girls and an interview with Blood at the Mexico Police Department.
Hodsdon said he arrested Blood’s brother, Izaak Blood, 19, in Livermore Falls on Wednesday on one count of Class A gross sexual assault, one count of Class B gross sexual assault and five counts of Class B sexual abuse of a minor.
Class A crimes are punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000, while Class B crimes are punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000. Class D crimes are punishable by up to 364 days incarceration and a $2,000 fine.
Jacob Blood was taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris, where bail was initially set at $10,000. It was later lowered to $1,000 cash bail or supervised release. Two of his four Class D sexual abuse charges were dropped.
Izaak Blood was also taken to Oxford County Jail, where bail was set at $10,000.
Both brothers were given an Oxford County Superior Court date of June 3.
Hodsdon said Izaak Blood is facing a Class A charge because the girl was only 13 years old and he substantially impaired her power to appraise or control the situation by providing her with drugs or intoxicants.
In his affidavit, Hodsdon said he first received a complaint from the mother of a 14-year-old girl that her daughter had sexual intercourse with Jacob Blood in November 2013.
Upon interviewing one of the victims and witnesses, Hodsdon said another 14-year-old girl admitted to having sexual intercourse five separate times with Jacob and Izaak Blood. Both brothers were charged with having sex with her, Hodsdon said.
Both 14-year-old girls were given alcoholic beverages by the brothers prior to the sexual intercourse, according to the affidavit.
Hodsdon also said in the affidavit that he received a referral from the Oxford County District Attorney’s Office about a 13-year-old girl who admitted having sexual intercourse with Izaak Blood during the fall of 2013. Blood was 18 at the time. The girl also said she was given alcoholic beverages by Izaak Blood prior to intercourse, according to the affidavit.
