DURHAM — Townspeople will gather at 9 a.m. Saturday at Durham Community School, 654 Hallowell Road, to act on a $2.18 million municipal budget proposed by selectmen.

As this does not include the school budget, which is voted on separately at a different time, there is no way to project the impact on the tax rate, Town Administrator Janet Smith said.

In an unusual move, the Budget Committee is recommending that voters spend $2.19 million.

In the roads budget, selectmen recommend $774,670 and the Budget Committee proposes $776,095.

Another article asks voters to decrease the number of Budget Committee members from the current nine to five, effective next year.

Article 29 would set the interest rate on delinquent taxes at 7 percent per year.

Town reports are available at the Town Office and will be available at the town meeting Saturday.
