BROOKS — Police released more information Wednesday afternoon about the 28-year-old father accused of assaulting his 7-year-old son by kicking him in the back.
Police said that the boy said his father has used other types of discipline, including using a shock collar intended for animals, on him and on his 9-year-old sister.
James Kuhn of Brooks was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of domestic assault. His son reportedly told Deputy Nick Oettinger of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office that Kuhn had kicked him in the leg, back and head repeatedly, according to a news release from the department.
Custody of both children has been turned over to their mother, police said in the release.
Kuhn, who was released on $2,500 cash bail, is not allowed to have contact with the children.
The domestic assault charges have been elevated to felony counts because Kuhn had a previous conviction of domestic violence assault in 2009, according to Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
