MONMOUTH (AP) — A Monmouth man says he may not be alive if not for the mystery woman who stopped and helped him after a heart attack.

Leonard Crocker, who works for the Monmouth Public Works Department, lost consciousness by the side of the road March 17 just after his crew finished cutting trees.

While he was out, a woman in a passing car stopped to help.

He didn’t see her, but the 61-year-old Crocker has clues. His boss says the woman was with her boyfriend in a red Mustang. They had just come from the grocery store in Winthrop, and the woman said she had nearly completed classes to become a registered nurse.

As soon as an ambulance arrived, she took off.

Crocker told the Kennebec Journal (http://bit.ly/1e3JB2h ) he just wants to thank her.
