As members of the Lewiston City Council go through the budget process, they should try to think about the taxpayers who actually pay the bills.
Property owners have absorbed increased taxes several times. In these tough times, councilors should consider if the city is actually overstaffed in management. Or how many taxpayer dollars are being wasted.
Do city employees really need a brand new 4×4 pickup just to drive around the city?
People are moving out of Lewiston for a reason. I see a lot of “For Sale” signs.
Councilors should try to think beyond City Hall. They should think of the people who have to pay the city’s expenses.
