Kristen Miale, president of the Good Shepherd Food-Bank, welcomes Ron Overko, left, and Kelvin Santana, both of Ocean State Job Lot, as Overko and Santana deliver two tractor-trailers full of food to the Auburn food bank on Tuesday. The Rhode Island-based company donated 78 truck loads of shelf-stable food to 13 food banks in seven states through their “Three Square Meals” assistance program. Miale said the donation came at a good time. “There tends to be a lull this time of year for donations,” Miale said. The donated food items are nutritious ones such as cans of spinach, Miale said. “Ocean State has made a big effort to give healthier items,” Miale said. “Three Square Meals” is going on its 11th year. The program has involved Good Shepherd for the past four.
