DIXFIELD — Town Manager Linda Pagels-Wentworth has resigned for personal reasons, selectmen Chairman Mac Gill said.

Pagels-Wentworth submitted a letter of resignation March 12 and it became effective March 14. She was hired in May 2013 after a six-month search.

Gill said former Town Manager Eugene Skibitsky, who retired from the position in September of 2012, will return as interim town manager until a search committee can find someone new to hire.

“We’ve formed a search committee that will consist of two selectmen and two town employees to begin a search,” Gill said. “Gene said that he would sit in with us and help us get our budget together while we look for a new town manager.”

Prior to being town manager of Baileyville in Washington County, Pagels-Wentworth served as Washington County’s first county manager for three years. There, she was responsible for the operation of administrative functions, the preparation of two annual budgets that resulted in a decrease in the municipal tax levy and the negotiation of two union contracts.

Before that, she served as manager for several Eastern Maine towns and cities, including Calais, Gouldsboro and Milbridge.

Pagels-Wentworth could not be reached for comment.
