FARMINGTON — A Livermore Falls man is accused of inappropriate texting to a child under age 15 in Franklin County, county sheriff’s Detective Lt. David St. Laurent said Monday.

Detective Stephen Charles arrested Casey L. Braley, 21, on Friday on a felony charge of sexual exploitation of a minor, he said.

Braley, who is on probation on an unrelated case, was put on a probation hold, he said.

The Sheriff’s Department received a referral from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services that involved a child under age 15, St. Laurent said. The child reported inappropriate texting with Braley included inappropriate photos, he said.

Charles, who was assisted by his brother, Detective Kenneth Charles, conducted an investigation. They collected the phones and interviewed the child and Braley, and arrested Braley.

The investigation is ongoing, Charles said.

Braley is scheduled to appear at a Farmington court April 8.

A conviction on the felony charge of exploitation of a minor carries up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
