The second annual WinterKids Downhill 24, a fun, fast-paced 24-hour ski challenge, will take place this Saturday and Sunday, March 8 and 9, at Mt. Abram in Greenwood. At last year’s event which was called the Downhill Derby, over 150 participants skied or snowboarded to help raise $45,000 for WinterKids programs. This year’s event is slated to exceed that amount and promises to be the biggest all-night ski party of the year.
In addition to 24 hours of straight skiing (technically 23 hours of skiing with the clock springing forward), there will be great food, amazing prizes, and entertainment including live bands Vinyl Tap and North of Nashville, the very popular mechanical bull, a Tarot card reader, photo booth shenanigans, a beer garden and much more!
The WinterKids Downhill 24 welcomes all levels of skiers and snowboarders who want to ski, ride and have a blast all in support of Maine kids. A discounted registration is available to individuals and teams that sign up by today, Thursday, March 6. Each individual and team will receive a unique fundraising page, and there will be prizes awarded for those who raise the most money for WinterKids. Participants who raise $500 or more will be entered to win the Grand Prize, a two-night getaway for two at the Bethel Inn Resort.
