The YMCA All-Star Meet was held Sunday, Feb. 2 at Bates College in Lewiston. Twelve new records were set as 200 swimmers from ages 9 to 18 competed in the event. Participants were divided into three groups: North, South and Central. Outstanding performances from the local Twin Cities swimming team included: Matthew Charest, first place, boys’ 15-and-over 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke; Brooke Cloutier, first place in the girls’ 11-12 100 freestyle and second place in 100 individual medley; Lennon LaBelle, first place, in boys’ 11-12 50 butterfly and 50 backstroke; Joe Manduca, first place in boys’ 15-and-over 100 butterfly, and Peter Tirabassi, second place in boys’ 15-and-over 100 breaststroke and thrid place in boys’ 15-and-over 200 IM. Other qualifiers included Alex Akers, Hayden Bavis, Isabelle Bellefleur, Margot Chirayath, Abbie Howe and Melina Masselli.
