SMH program on juicing for health

NORWAY —”Juicing or Blending Your Way to Better Health” will be offered from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the Harper Conference Center in the Ripley Medical Building, 193 Main St.

Sample and learn how to make healthy delicious smoothies and juices. The program will demonstrate how to increase energy and vitality with simple recipes for juicing or blending.

Patti-Ann Douglas, R.N., is a certified Patient Care Navigator at Stephens Memorial Hospital. She has a lifelong passion for learning how the foods we eat affect our health and disease prevention. Douglas recently received her certificate in plant-based nutrition from Cornell University.

Wendy Dillon, a registered nurse in the Infusion Center at Stephens Memorial Hospital, will also be facilitating the class.

Yard sale benefits Girls State program

PARIS — A yard sale to benefit the Girls State program will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Foster-Carroll American Legion Post 72, 12 Church St.

Snowhoppers BBQ at trail hut

PARIS — The Snowhoppers will hold a barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at the Snowhoppers Hut, on their trail system in South Paris.

There is no cost for the meal; A donation can will be available if anyone feels like donating.

Baseball/softball registration

HARRISON — Registrations for the upcoming 2014 baseball, softball and tee ball season for Harrison girls and boys ages 4-15 will be held Monday and Wednesday, March 3 and 5, at the Community Room next to the fire station from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The deadline is March 14.

Practices will take place in the Harrison gym until the fields are ready for play.

Fees per player are as follows: Tee ball and Rookies: $25; minors and majors: $35; Babe Ruth: $45; and softball, $25.

Senior social and luncheon

HARRISON — The next senior social and luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at the Community Room next to the fire station.

Attendees will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day playing word games, guess jar and bingo. The meal will feature corned beef and cabbage made special by Arlin and Peggy Bigelow along with their homemade rolls, Jell-o and whipped cream for dessert and coffee/tea/hot cocoa and juice. The cost is $3.

Mark your calendars for the annual March Madness on March 23 starting at noon. Tickets go on sale March 3. More information will be released soon. Call Paula with questions at 583-2241.
