In Federalist Papers #85, Alexander Hamilton clearly explained that the purpose of an Article V Convention of States to Propose Amendments would be to protect the liberty and security of the people when he stated: “We may safely rely on the disposition of the state legislatures to erect barriers against the encroachments of the national authority.”

The time has come for the states to apply for an Article V convention with the specific purpose of “limiting the power and jurisdiction of the federal government.”

This can be achieved by proposing amendments that restore the balance of power back to the states as the nation’s framers originally intended.

Amendments can stop the spending and debt spree, the power grabs of the federal courts, remove the career politicians with term limits, provide the people with recall authority to remove those who disobey the Constitution, etc.

As Thomas Jefferson wrote, “I wish it were possible to obtain a single amendment to our Constitution. I would be willing to depend on that alone for the reduction of the administration of our government; I mean an additional article taking from the Federal Government the power of borrowing.”

Congress will never fix the problem because it is the problem.

It is time for the states to unite to propose amendments that will limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government in order to restore the balance of power back to the states.
