Maranacook is giving Yarmouth a run for its money in the boys’ race, but after stellar performances from both the girls and boys, the Clippers are poised for a double repeat in the Class B Nordic skiing state championships, being held this year at Sugarloaf Outdoor Center.

Ellie Teare led a 3-5-9-10 finish for the Yarmouth girls as they took a commanding 27-46 advantage over Freeport.

The Yarmouth boys, who posted a 1-3-6-8 finish for a scant 18 points, have a closer pursuer in Maranacook, who also placed four in the top 10 for a 28-point day.

Freeport skier Elijah McCurdy (second) and Cape Elizabeth skier Julian Pelzer (seventh) were the only skiers from other schools to crack the top 10.

Braden Becker was the top Yarmouth finisher in the boys’ race, completing the course in 15:28, 45 seconds better than McCurdy.

Carter Hall (third), Sam Alexander (sixth), and Jasper Houston (eighth) rounded out Yarmouth’s scoring group.
