BINGHAM (AP) — Authorities have arrested a Bingham man they allege wielded a hammer and threatened employees while robbing two local banks.

Somerset County Sheriff’s Deputies caught up with 35-year-old Travis Carrigan on Wednesday.

They said he wore a mask and wielded the carpenter’s framing hammer while robbing a Camden National Bank branch on Jan. 17 and a Skowhegan Savings Bank branch on Feb. 4.

He was charged with two counts of robbery and is being held at the Somerset county jail. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.

Police said they have also recovered the hammer.

Chief Deputy Dale Lancaster said the motive appears to be drug-related and Carrigan acted alone.
