NORWAY—Selectman Bruce Cook announced at the recent selectboard meeting that Bike Maine has chosen to make stops in Norway this September.
Back in December, Cook brought up the possibility of Bike Maine choosing Norway as a stop along their trek through Maine.
The weekend of Sept. 7, individuals involved in Bike Maine will stop for the weekend in Norway. According to Cook, up to 350 participants will be biking.
Other people that will be coming for the event will be family members and support teams. Trucks carrying portable showers and equipment will also be traveling with the bikers.
“It could be quite an influx of people,” said Cook.
He continued to say that bikers are planning to tent out overnight. He hopes that bikers or family members of bikers will visit businesses on Main Street to bring in revenue into the town.
“More to follow,” he said. “It’s going to be quite an event.”
