Fifth-grade students from Geiger Elementary School react to their final score during the L/A Arts Maine Writes Poetry Slam competition at the school in Lewiston on Monday. Geiger A team went head-to-head with Auburn’s Sherwood Heights Elementary during the four-day live competition via teleconferencing. Geiger A scored 136.9 points to Sherwood’s 135.3 to advance to the semifinals Tuesday.
