WATERFORD/STONEHAM — At their annual meeting in late January, the members of the North Waterford and Stoneham churches made plans for the coming year, to include renovations to the church buildings, helping care for local families and dates for fun events such as concerts and the famous Summer Suppers.
Rev. Doretta Colburn, pastor of the two churches, thanked all community members who donated to the Tree of Peace and Love during the Christmas season, in memory of loved ones. Donations totaled more than $400, which will be used to provide scholarships for children to attend summer camp at Pilgrim Lodge in West Gardiner, and to assist local families with heating their homes in this especially frigid winter season.
Summer suppers will be held at the North Waterford Church on Tuesday evenings from 5 to 6:30 on the following dates: June 17; July 1, 15 and 29; Aug. 12 and 26; and Sept. 9. Suppers will feature baked beans, homemade casseroles and, depending on the season, strawberry shortcake or homemade pies for dessert.
Church services will be held at 10 a.m. every Sunday at the North Waterford Church on Route 35, opposite Melby’s Eatery, through the month of April. During May and June, services will be held at the Stoneham Church on Route 5. All are welcome.
