LIVERMORE — The town’s ad-hoc Education Committee will review tuition costs at its second meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Town Office, Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub said Thursday.

The committee was formed last year after selectpersons voted in September to get financial information on withdrawing from RSU 73.

The committee’s purpose is to explore alternatives to educate Livermore students, along with related costs, he said.

The committee asked to see tuition costs for RSU 52 in Turner and RSU 9 in Farmington, Schaub said. Members want to compare it to what the town spends to send students to RSU 73 schools that serve Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls students, he said.

They also want to see what the affect on state aid would be for the town if students were sent to other districts, he said.

Retired teacher Warren Forbes chairs the committee, which includes James McDonald, former SAD 36 Director Clint Boothby, former SAD 36 Director and Livermore Selectperson Rodney Newman and RSU 73 Director Cindy Young.

SAD 36 merged with the Jay School Department in July 2011 to form RSU 73.
