Triple Threat basketball
The Triple Threat girls’ basketball spring season, which is entering its 10th year, is having signups and tryouts at Lewiston High School on Saturday, Feb. 8.
Fifth- and sixth-grade girls will meet at 5 p.m., with seventh- and eighth-grade girls at 6:30p.m.
Girls from surrounding towns are encouraged to come and join us. The teams are coached by Lewiston High School girls’ coach Mike Labonte and Lewiston Travel coach Chuck Cullins.

Maine McDonald’s seeking nominations
AUBURN — Organizers of the Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games are looking for nominations for two awards — the Maine McDonald’s Spirit of the Game Award and the Maine McDonald’s & Maine Red Claws Team of the Year Award. Nomination forms can be completed electronically at http://vote.mainemcdonaldsbasketball.org/.
The Maine McDonald’s & Maine Red Claws Team of the Year Award honors two Maine high school varsity basketball teams – one boys and one girls – that have made an exceptional impact on Maine High School Basketball and in the lives of others through contribution to community, exemplifying sportsmanship, team competitiveness and spirit and commitment to academic excellence
Teams selected will receive a $1,000.00 donation to their schools’ basketball programs.
Coaches, parents, principals, community organizations, athletic directors and sports fans are encouraged to submit a nomination form for either or both awards. Spirit of the Game and Team of the Year nomination forms can be completed electronically at http://vote.mainemcdonaldsbasketball.org/. Recipients will be announced at the Maine McDonald’s All-Star Weekend in Bangor scheduled for March 7 and 8.
The 2013 Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Games will be played at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University in Bangor on Saturday, March 8. The game-day program will feature competition between top players in the state’s A/B and C/D Boys and Girls divisions. All-Star players, coaches, All-State Academic teams, Regional Foul Shooting champions and Mr. and Miss Basketball will be honored at the awards banquet on Friday, March 7, at 6:30 p.m.
Net proceeds from the Games benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine. RMHC of Maine is a non-profit organization whose goal is to help Maine children and families lead happier, healthier and more productive lives.
