NORWAY — The Norway Farmers’ Market will host demonstrations on basket-making and spinning among other activities Saturday, Feb. 1, at the First Universalist Church on Main Street. The hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Karen Ellis will demonstrate basket-making and will offer kits to purchase. Wrinkle in Thyme Farm of Sumner will demonstrate spinning and felting and will offer kits, patterns and new wool fibers.

Jeanette Baldridge of LolliePapa Farm in West Paris said in a statement this week that there is talk of a Farmers’ Market knitting circle. Wrinkle in Thyme Farm would like to know of any interest in it, she said.

Wrinkle in Thyme also has lamb cuts and maple sausage to sample at the market.

Pietree Orchard of Sweden will offer apples and winter vegetables, and Oak Meadow Farm of Harrison will be selling pork, beef and chicken. LolliePapa Farm will have freshly picked winter greens and, as always, hot soup and breads of all kinds.

There is always hot coffee available and plenty of room for visiting, Baldridge said. Music is often a part of the market, and this weekend Tim Brophy will do the honors.

At the Feb. 8 market, Baldridge will demonstrate how to make sauerkraut and have samples to taste. Also that day, new vendor Nick Corsy will have goat milk soaps and other crafts.

A schedule of coming events is available at the market.

“We are growing, so look for new vendors and new events every week,” Baldridge said.

The market has served the Oxford Hills area for 15 years or more and is now year round. On May 8, it will move outside near the information kiosk on Main Street.
