1927 – 2013
AUBURN — Capt. Edward B. Fortin, 86, of Auburn, passed away on Oct. 21, 2013, at the Androscoggin Hospice House. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was born on Feb. 3, 1927, in Webster to William and Anna (Demers) Fortin.
After several years in the military, he moved his family to Troupsburg, N.Y. There he owned and operated a dairy farm and also worked for Ingersoll Rand and retired from Dresser Rand.
He is survived by his sons, Michael (Arlene) Fortin of Sabattus; Thomas (Pam) Fortin of Kernersville, N.C., Alan (Theresa) Fortin of Shrewsbury, Pa.; his daughters, Joan (Edward) Mattison of Troupsburg, N.Y., and Patricia Robinette of West Palm Beach, Fla.; as well as 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; his two brothers, Clem and Omer; his two sisters, Christine and Theresa; and two sons, Edward and Steven. He was also predeceased by his wife, Genevieve, in Corning, N.Y., and most recently, his wife, Liane Demers Fortin, who passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 15, 2013.
