PORTLAND (AP) — A Portland man has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for his role in a scheme to sell fake federal documents to immigrants living illegally in the U.S.

Roman Garcia-Lopez, who also goes by Romeo Bartalon, was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Portland after pleading guilty last year to conspiracy to produce false identification documents. The 57-year-old Garcia-Lopez also faces deportation to his native Mexico upon completion of his sentence.

Federal prosecutors said between 2011 and 2012 he sold fake green cards and Social Security cards to people in the Portland area. The documents were produced in Atlanta and mailed to Maine.

Authorities said undercover informants twice bought documents from Garcia-Lopez for $180.
