LEWISTON — City officials will be sworn into office Tuesday in Callahan Hall at Lewiston Public Library. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

The original ceremony was scheduled Monday night in the Franco Center.

“But due to slippery driving and walking conditions, we decided to postpone,” City Administrator Ed Barrett said.

Maine Gov. Paul LePage was scheduled to speak at the inaugural ceremony. Peter Steele, director of communications for the governor, said LePage will not attend Tuesday’s ceremony.

“He has something else scheduled, a prior commitment on his calendar,” Steele said. “He won’t be able to make it.”

A City Council workshop scheduled for Tuesday night will be postponed indefinitely. Councilors were scheduled to discuss the capital projects budget at that 6 p.m. workshop.

But Barrett said a 7 p.m. regular meeting Tuesday will go on, after the inauguration has wrapped up. Macdonald and city councilors will move across Pine Street to City Hall after the inauguration.
