MINOT — Firefighters from seven towns put out a fire at a single-family home on Jackson Hill Road on Christmas afternoon, fire Chief Dean Campbell said.

The fire was reported by a passer-by at around 3 p.m., Campbell said. “When we arrived, fire was showing on the second floor out of a bedroom.”

The homeowner is Norman Labbe, owner of Blackie’s Fresh Farm Produce. No one was home when the fire broke out, Campbell said.

Firefighters from Minot, Auburn, Poland, Mechanic Falls, Turner, Hebron and Buckfield responded, and brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes, Campbell said. The home was significantly damaged. “It will probably be a total loss,” the chief said.

The suspected cause of the fire is electrical, he said.
