JAY — Twenty-four people have applied for the town manager position. The deadline for applications was Thursday.
Town Manager Ruth Cushman submitted her resignation letter to the Board of Selectpersons on Nov. 25. She expects her last day on the job, if all goes well, will be Feb. 24, 2014. She will be on the payroll until March or April to use accrued vacation time and floating holidays.
Cushman has been the town manager for more than a decade.
Selectpersons will review resumes during an executive session at their meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at the Town Office. Other agenda items will come first.
The Board of Selectpersons is the hiring committee for the position.
The board is expected to narrow the list of candidates to six, according to Cushman’s time line. The schedule calls for interviews Jan. 6 and 8, 2014. Second and third interviews are scheduled Jan. 14 and 21.
By late January, the board expects to start negotiations with a finalist. The date to announce a new town manager is Jan. 27.
