RUMFORD — For people who want to stay active during the cold winter months, indoor winter walking is available at four River Valley area schools and two recreation centers.
Opportunities are from:
* 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Greater Rumford Community Center, 369-9906.
* 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Mexico Rec Center, 364-4912.
* 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at Dirigo High School in Dixfield, 562-4251.
* 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Mountain Valley High School in Rumford, 364-4547.
* 6:15 to 7:15 a.m. and from 2:30 to 7 p.m. at Telstar Regional High School in Bethel, 824-2136.
* 6:30 to 8 a.m. at Region 9 School of Applied Technology in Mexico, 364-3764.
For the schools, participants are advised to call before the first visit for details, Barbara Rajaniemi of the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition said Thursday in a news release.
“If school is canceled, walking is not available at any of the locations,” she said.
