Coach: Mike Hathaway (sixth year)
Last year’s record: 6-13, lost Western B preliminary
Returning letterwinners: Seniors — Matt Powell (6-8 center), Nate Coombs (5-10 guard), Levi Morin (6-3 forward), Zac Goulette (6-0 guard); Juniors — Mitchel Davis (6-5 forward), Korey Caito (6-2 forward), Austin Anderson (6-3 forward), Isaiah Trask (5-10 guard), Matt Albert (6-2 center), Reed Farrar (6-0 forward).
Key loses: Andrew Middleton (forward), Isaiah Calder (guard).
Promising newcomers: Sophomores — Max Green (6-1 forward), Billy Bedard (5-10 guard); Freshman — Eli Calder (5-11 guard).
Outlook: The Hornets will have to regroup after losing two of their top scorers, Middleton and Calder, who both transferred, and having much of its roster preoccupied with their state championship football run as basketball preseason started up. They still have a lot of talent back, and Hathaway expects this team to play better defense. They’ll look to play a slower tempo than last year, with much of the offense going through Davis, Goulette and Anderson. Caito carried over a strong finish to last season into the spring and summer, and Morin provides toughness in the paint.
