Wednesday evening prayer services

WILTON — St. Luke’s Episcopal Church offers Wednesday evening prayer services during Advent at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 4, 11 and 18. All are welcome.

This service is an opportunity for prayer and quiet reflection during the busy holiday season. St. Luke’s is at 59 High St., at the corner of High and School streets.

Chester Greenwood Day sale, lunch

FARMINGTON — The Chester Greenwood Day sale and luncheon will be held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, 110 Academy St.

There will be a cookie walk, candy and white elephant sale.

Lunch starts at 11:30 a.m. and includes beef stew, fish chowder or French onion soup, with homemade bread, pickles, gingerbread and whipped cream.

Cost is $6.

Emblem Club craft fair

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Emblem Club No. 460 will hold a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Elks Lodge, 120 School St.

Farmington Grange craft fair Dec. 7

FARMINGTON — A craft fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, downstairs at the Farmington Grange, 124 Bridge St.

Hymn, gospel music event Dec. 8

FARMINGTON — An old-time hymn and gospel music presentation by Austin and Elaine Marden and Joel and Louise Bunker will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at Fairbanks Union Church, 583 Fairbanks Road.

All donations will benefit the church.

Legion bingo every Saturday

KINGFIELD — American Legion Post 61 will hold bingo every Saturday. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and games begin at 6:30.

Homemakers party, storytelling

FARMINGTON — The Clearwater Homemakers will meet for their Christmas party and storytelling at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Shorey Chapel.

Workshop on independent publishing

TURNER — Independent Publishing for Maine Writers is a workshop being held from 6 to 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, by MSAD 52 Adult & Community Education. Fee is $20.

Recent innovations in printing technology have created a boom in self-publishing. Good books that don’t meet traditional publishers’ criteria can now be affordably printed and marketed.

Alternative options, including what is offered locally, will be featured. Students will get the technical assistance they need and discover the many types of organizations, printers and publishers that work with Maine authors.

Chesterville Grange ‘souper’ supper

CHESTERVILLE — The Chesterville Grange will have a public “souper” supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13.

Menu includes homemade soups, chowders, breads and desserts. Adults, $5; children, $2.50.
