AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine deer hunters are taking to the woods for the muzzleloader deer season.
Muzzleloader season kicks off on Monday after firearms season for deer ended on Saturday.
Maine’s Department of Fish and Wildlife Services said that the firearms deer season was likely the best the state has seen in recent years when it comes to the number of deer harvested and their health.
Muzzleloader season will end Dec. 7 in some Wildlife Management Districts and will extend another week for others.
The state said all hunters must have a muzzleloader license to hunt as well as a big-game hunting licenses.
