Reception for new art show
RUMFORD — The Pennacook Art Center and River Valley Growth Council will host a reception for a new art show from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at the River Valley Technology Center, 60 Lowell St.
Meet the artists and view the art. A door prize will be given.
The Pennacook Art Center features paintings, drawings, weavings and photographs by local art professionals.
The exhibit is available for viewing from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturdays.

DIXFIELD — The Dixfield Congregational Church announces its annual Christmas Fair set for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.

Children’s Christmas Party
JAY — The AMVETS Children’s Christmas Party will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the AMVETS Post 33 Hall on Main Street.
There will be games and prizes, and Santa will arrive at 12:30 p.m. Tickets will be available to buy to play the games. A lunch of hot dogs, fries and popcorn will be sold.
All-you-can-eat breakfast Dec. 7
KINGFIELD — The Kingfield United Methodist Church will have an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.
Breakfast will include scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage, French toast, pancakes, sausage gravy over biscuit, juice, coffee, tea. $5 adult, $3 children.
A craft fair will be held from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
Scholarship Fund Christmas Fair
OTISFIELD — The annual Christmas Fair to support the Scholarship Fund will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at East Otisfield Free Baptist Church, 231 Rayville Road.
This year the church is raising money for scholarships for 10 local college students from Otisfield, Casco, Norway and Mechanic Falls, all of whom have family members belonging to the church. This year begins the second generation of scholarship recipients; the first scholarship went to the mother of one of this year’s recipients.
There will be a cookie walk, bake sale, craft items, Rada cutlery, “attic treasures” and a Christmas table. In addition, there will be a display of Nativity sets in the church.
The sale continues after church on Sunday for awhile. All are welcome. Rayville Road is off Route 121, which runs from Auburn to Raymond.
Ministries plan Chinese auction
OXFORD — The Resistance Ministries and the Blacksmiths Music Ministries will have their seventh annual Chinese auction fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Oxford Recreation building on King Street.
Both ministries are nonprofit ministries that work with youth.
The doors will open at 1 p.m.; the ticket drawings start at 2 p.m. Advance tickets at a discounted price are now on sale and can be purchased by calling 743-6500.
Buyers can save even more by using a debit or credit card at www.theblacksmiths.wix.com/tix/ to purchase specially priced advance tickets. There are only 30 specially priced 200 and 300 advance ticket packages available.
Advance ticket prices are $20 for 100, $35 for 200 and $40 for 300. The online price is $20 for 100, $30 for 200 and $35 for 300 tickets. The price at the door is $25 for 100 tickets.

Beacon House to offer wrapping
RUMFORD — The Beacon House will be wrapping presents from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday in December starting Dec. 7.
Wrapping paper, tape, ribbon and labels will be supplied.
The house is located at 3 Canal St.
Donations will benefit the Beacon House Social Club.

Snowshoe Club Christmas party
RUMFORD — A Christmas party for adults will take place Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Snowshoe Club. Social hour will start at 5 p.m. A ham supper will take place at 6.
Music will be provided by the Noel & Don Band from 7 to 11 p.m.
Tickets are $9 for members and $10 for guests.
RAAPA plans Christmas show
RUMFORD — The Rumford Association for the Advancement of the Performing Arts will hold a Christmas show, “A Musical Christmas Card,” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at Mountain Valley High School Muskie Auditorium.
The show includes music, dancers, Santa and a live Nativity.
Cost is $12 for adults and $5 for ages 12 and under.

Christmas fair at Strong church
STRONG — The annual Christmas Fair at the Strong United Methodist Parish House will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.
The sale will include baked goods, candy, gifts, wreaths, jewelry and Rada cutlery.
Luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
World’s Fair suppers begin
WATERFORD — The first supper for the winter for the Waterford World’s Fair will be Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Waterford Congregational Church, which is across the street from Melby’s Market on Route 35.
The menu is Dana’s famous baked stuff haddock with potato, vegetables, roll, drink and a piece of homemade pie. They will start serving at 5 p.m. The price is $10 per person, $5 for kids. For those who do not care for fish, there will be homemade macaroni and cheese.
The next fair meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Waterford Town Office. Everyone is welcome. After the meeting will be a social time with food. Bring a dish to share.

Mahoosuc band Christmas concert
BETHEL — A Christmas concert by the Mahoosuc Community Band will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at West Parish Congregational Church, 32 Church St. Patricia Boyle-Wight directs the community band.

WILTON — The Friendship Squares square dance club will hold a special December square dance benefit in memory of Brian Rowe. The dance will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at the G.D. Cushing School in Wilton. Cost is $6 per person.

STONEHAM — The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Hannah F. Richardson Tent 19 of Stoneham, met on Nov. 20 at the home of Marilyn Jones in Norway.
The second nomination of officers was held.
Prospective member Hailee Heath was a guest at the meeting.
Stockings were filled for disabled members.
Mystery prize went to Elaine Lagueux.
The next meeting will be on Feb. 26 at the same location.
