ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Kristen Lavallee of Lisbon has enrolled in Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf, the nation’s first and largest technological college for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
She is a graduate of Model Secondary School for the Deaf in Washington, D.C., and the daughter of Nancy and Jim Lavallee of Lisbon.

STANDISH — The following students were recently inducted as a member of the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Honor Society at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine.
Christopher Bryant of Gray, a senior business and sports management major, is a member on the college’s baseball team and is president of the Sports Management Student Association Club. He volunteers at youth sports clinics on campus and for the Special Olympics.
Brittany Robertson of Mechanic Falls, a senior nursing student and certified nursing assistant, is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She has volunteered for many service activities on campus and has been a resident advisor and orientation leader for Student Life.
Rose LeBlanc of Jay, a junior nursing student, volunteers at a local food pantry, the college’s farm and at several local nonprofits. LeBlanc is a youth group student leader at her church.

The scholarship recipients included Ashley Gallagher of Auburn, whose major is music education. Gallagher was awarded the SUNY Potsdam Freshman Scholarship.

First-year students who maintain a GPA in the top 10 percent of all students in their school throughout their first full academic year are invited into the society.
Grant is majoring in environmental studies in the School of Humanities and Sciences.

During the event, hundreds of students, faculty and staff devote a full day to giving back to the community by contributing to hunger relief programs, economic development projects and environmental sustainability establishments throughout the greater Baltimore region.
