LEWISTON — The Voices of Color will appear at the Christmas Concert to Benefit Loaves and Fishes at the Franco Center from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1. Other entertainers include the Chamber Choir from Lewiston High School and the Litchfield Senior Chorus and the Carol Bailey String Band. Mitch Thomas will perform master of ceremony duties as well as entertain.
The Voices of Color is the select choir of Oak Hill High School, chosen by audition from among its 400 students. The VOC has enjoyed considerable success over the years, including excellent and superior ratings at regional and national adjudicated festivals and two performances at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
This year’s VOC has the distinction of sending one of its members — tenor Zachary Fisher of Sabattus — to the prestigious All-National Honors Chorus sponsored by the National Association for Music Education, in Nashville, TN.
Voices of Color is directed by John Neal who holds a bachelor degree in Music Education from the Ohio State University, and a masters degree in conducting performance from the University of Connecticut. Oak Hill High School serves the communities of Sabattus, Litchfield and Wales, Maine.
