AUGUSTA (AP) — A chance to pick up bargain furniture and other items from the old MaineGeneral Medical Center attracted so many shoppers that officials canceled plans to extend the sale for another day.
The Portland Press Herald reports that about 1,000 items sold in less than three hours Saturday, prompting Sunday’s sale to be canceled.
Some of the furnishings were moved to MaineGeneral’s new $312 million facility, while others went to nonprofit organizations. Saturday’s sale items included waiting room furniture, artwork, lamps, and display cases.
