Lewiston-Auburn voters are very fortunate to have elected lawmakers who understand the needs of Maine’s hard-working families.

I was pleased to learn that state Sens. Margaret Craven and John Cleveland and state Reps. Peggy Rotundo, Wayne Werts, Mike Lajoie, Mike Carey, Nate Libby and Brian Bolduc all scored 100 percent ratings on the Maine State Employees Association’s 2013 Legislative Scorecard.

They earned those perfect scores by supporting things that matter to Maine’s middle class.

They voted for a responsible two-year state budget that prevented increases to Lewiston and Auburn’s property tax bills, and they all voted to override Gov. Paul LePage’s budget veto, which would have shut down the state government right at the height of the tourist season and thrown more than 10,000 hard-working state employees out of work.

They also pushed for access to health care coverage and affordable prescription medications. They stood up for workers with their support for a living wage and workers’ rights.

I thank them for their good work. More lawmakers are needed who will watch out for hard-working Mainers.
