Phoenix Academy schedule changes

Phoenix Academy of Martial Arts in Auburn announces a new six-week Women’s Self Defense class starting Tuesday, Dec. 3 from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. In this class, women will learn techniques that are simple to use against common attacks used on women. This is self defense for women taught by a woman.

Sosai Donna Harris will share techniques that can easily be executed by women of any build and age. If you have physical limitations, she will adapt the techniques to fit your needs. There other minor changes. Jujitsu will no longer be on Wednesday and Saturdays. The classes will held on Wednesday and Fridays with execptions for specialty classes, such as this Friday’s Stick fighting class from 6 to 7 p.m. for adults of ranks. Please bring hand protection if you have it.

Specialty classes scheduled: This Friday 11/22 Stick Fighting with Nate 6 to 7 p.m. Bring hand protection if you have it. Monday 11/25 Pressure Point Training with Sosai Randy 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.; Saturday 11/23 Board Breaking Seminar. 1 to 3 p.m., $10 per person. Money will go into the Phoenix Scholarship fund.

Bottle drive

The Lewiston Middle School seventh- and eight-grade boys basketball team will be having a bottle drive this Saturday, Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. If you would like to donate, you can drop bottles off at Roopers on Lisbon Street. If you want them picked up, call 207-212-2889. Donations will be going towards game-day warmups.
