RUMFORD — The River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition will be holding its monthly networking meeting at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 27, at the Rumford Public Library.

Executive Director Patricia Duguay said that the featured guest for November’s networking meeting will be Thomas Hebert, the coordinator for the Maine Rural Health Network.

“We received an email from him asking if he could give a brief presentation on the Maine Rural Health Network and their website,” Duguay said. “He’s been visiting the different Healthy Maine partnerships in the region and giving presentations so we thought it’d be nice to hear what his organization was all about.”

According to an email from Hebert, the purpose of the MRHN website is “to be a sort of hub of information, resources, contacts and collaboration with any and all community, public and other health professionals,” including providers.

Among the features that the website offers, Hebert said, is “document sharing, discussion forums, an events calender,” and a place to promote different events, programs and meetings.

Duguay said that it is likely that Hebert will present “a health index report,” which will discuss recent studies on such topics as childhood immunization, drug abuse and addiction, and cancer-related deaths.

For more information, call Duguay at 364-7408.
