FARMINGTON — The graduation rate for the Class of 2013 at Mt. Blue High School increased to 85.31 percent, Principal Monique Poulin told RSU 9 directors last week.

The report was given under the agenda item of good news.

The rate was 77.95 percent for the Class of 2012 and 78.73 percent for the Class of 2011, she said.

The improvement is the result of educational efforts from prekindergarten to grade 12, she said.

Staff does their best to support students and provide interventions when necessary to improve their education, she said Monday.

Each class is different, Poulin said.

Learning laboratories, extended-year and extended-day programs, among other programs, have helped students move forward and succeed, she said.

The dropout rate for grades nine through 12 also was lower. For 2012-13, the rate was 3.44 percent. In 2011-12, it was 4.59 percent and in 2011-12, it was 4.16 percent, she said.

On average, a graduating class has about 170 students, she said.
