ROCKLAND (AP) — Jury selection is getting underway in the trial of a Tenants Harbor man charged with killing his drug supplier for cutting him off.

Andrew Kierstead is charged with murder in the September 2012 shooting death of Richard Mills outside Mills’ home in Cushing. Jury selection begins Monday in Rockland.

Prosecutors said the 41-year-old Kierstead told them he shot Mills because he had hooked him on drugs but then shut him off for not paying a drug debt.

Kierstead’s lawyer argued that Kierstead’s confession to police shouldn’t be admissible at the trial because he wasn’t thinking clearly. A judge is allowing the statement.
