ORONO (AP) — The University of Maine has tapped Seth Woodcock to serve as interim athletic director starting next week.
Woodcock will serve until a permanent athletic director is hired to replace Steve Abbott, who left the post to return to his previous post as chief of staff to U.S. Sen. Susan Collins.
Woodcock currently serves as UMaine’s associate athletic director for development and a senior development officer.
The UMaine graduate previously worked as an executive at Maine Medical Center in Portland and as a legislative aide to Maine Senate President Rick Bennett.
Seth Woodcock is the son of former gubernatorial candidate Chandler Woodcock, who coached the Mt. Blue girls’ varsity basketball team for many years.
Chandler Woodcock is currently the commissioner of the state Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
