MANCHESTER — Police have tentatively identified the skeletal remains located in Manchester over the weekend.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Tuesday the remains are likely those of Paul Tolbert, 33, of Radford, Va.

Tolbert’s parents have been called, McCausland said, and they will provide DNA samples to help the state medical examiner’s office make a positive identification.

Tolbert had been in Maine attending a drug rehab program in Winthrop and last spoke to family members in January of this year, according to McCausland.

Tolbert had not been reported missing and there are no indications of foul play.

The remains were discovered by a hunter off the Puddledock Road Saturday morning.
