SCARBOROUGH (AP) — More than 30 dentists across Maine are offering free dental care to the poor.

Dentists who are taking part in a program called Dentists Who Care for ME are providing free teeth cleanings, fillings and extractions on Friday to people who can’t afford dental care and don’t have dental insurance.

People who wish to receive treatment are encouraged to arrive early at participating dental offices to secure an appointment.

The program is now in its fifth year, with dentists last year examining nearly 500 people and providing services valued at about $100,000.

A list of participating dentists can be found at dentalaccessformaine.org.
