MEXICO — Residents voted 254-65 Tuesday to approve an amended version of the town’s mobile home park and mobile home ordinance, Town Clerk Penny Duguay said.

The ordinance was the only local question on the ballot, Duguay said.

It added a number of changes that would “give the ordinance some teeth” and provide stricter conditions, according to Selectman Reggie Arsenault.

Changes include requiring trailers to have pitched and shingled roofs, changing the setback distance from the front of a lot to 35 feet from the centerline of a park road, and requiring mobile homes to be placed on permanent foundations that match the conditions set by the Planning Board.

Arsenault is a member of the Planning Board, which was responsible for updating the law.

Duguay said 321 residents cast ballots Tuesday.
