PORTLAND (AP) — A Maine man police say was drunk when he led a state trooper on a car chase that reached speeds of 110 miles per hour before he crashed has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Authorities say Robby Beaulieu didn’t have a valid driver’s license and had a blood-alcohol content twice the legal limit to drive during the chase on Interstate 295 in March that ended with a crash that ejected Beaulieu into a snow bank. He was not seriously hurt.

The 42-year-old Beaulieu pleaded guilty to a variety of charges in connection with three separate cases. Prosecutors say he has seven drunken driving convictions.

The Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/1cBv5D9 ) reports that Beaulieu apologized in court Monday and said he was thankful no one was hurt.
