LEWISTON — A benefit will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at the Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon Road, to help the family of Zachary Johnson of Auburn.
Johnson, 15, a sophomore at Edward Little High School, was diagnosed in July with metastatic Ewing sarcoma, an adolescent cancer. He is receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments at Boston Children’s Hospital and Maine Medical Center.
Although the family has medical insurance, there are many expenses which insurance will not cover. With this benefit, the hope is to raise enough funds to offset some of the medical expenses and relieve a small portion of the stress the family is enduring.
Zach is an Edward Little marching band member and has been a long-time Scout, formerly with Cub Scout Pack 111 and now with Boy Scout Troop 111.
All are invited to attend the benefit consisting of a spaghetti dinner, silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. The cost of the dinner is $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. There will be many silent auction items including Pirates tickets, golf passes, numerous restaurant gift cards, bowling passes, certificates for hair salons, massage certificates, kayak rentals and much more.
Monetary donations may be mailed to the Zach – Strong Fund, Maine Family Credit Union, 555 Sabattus St., Lewiston, ME 04240.
