SOUTH PORTLAND (AP) — For the third consecutive month, sales of single-family homes have resulted in double-digit growth in Maine.

Maine Listings reported this week that 1,307 homes changed hands in September for a 25 percent increase from the same period a year ago. Statewide, the median sales price for those homes increased nearly 2 percent to $173,000.

Bart Stevens, president of the Maine Association of Realtors, said it’s been an “extraordinarily busy summer season.”

Maine Listing statistics show more houses sold in September compared to the previous year in all 16 counties. The median sale price grew in all counties except Androscoggin, Piscataquis, Somerset, Washington and York counties.
