WOOLWICH (AP) — A Maine hospital is apologizing for sending a Woolwich man the wrong medical records, including another patient’s name, date of birth and Social Security number.
Don Adams said he asked Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick for his records because he never received a bill for procedures received more than a year ago.
Adams, a diabetic, told The Times Record (http://bit.ly/19qNU7o ) he called numerous times, every time being assured that the information was in the mail.
When he finally got the information in September, he noticed procedures he had never received. Then he realized he had received a woman’s records.
Adams said a more unscrupulous person could have used the information to steal the woman’s identity.
The hospital called the mistake “human error” and is working to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
