BETHEL — The Bethel Outing Club will host its 33rd annual Ski Sale from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Gould Academy Fieldhouse.
The Ski Club allows residents to purchase new and used equipment from major ski shops and local and visiting skiers.
“This event allows people to get high-quality ski equipment for a very reasonable price,” Vicki Fimiani, volunteer coordinator, said. “This year, we’re encouraging the sale of used equipment. We can’t accept equipment that is outdated, but we’re always looking for high-quality used ski equipment.”
Fimiani said residents who wish to sell their equipment can pick up sale tag and inventory sheets at the Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce or at True North Adventureware.
“You can get four tags for free, but any tag you pick up after that is 25 cents,” Fimiani said.
After writing the price that they wish, Fimiani said the seller should bring the item to the Gould Fieldhouse starting at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25.
Sale tags can also be picked up on the day of the sale, but they will cost 50 cents.
Fimiani, who has been volunteering with the ski sale for 20 years, said the Bethel Outing Club is always looking for more people to help out.
“The ski sale has always been 100 percent run by volunteers,” Fimiani said. “We need people to stand at the doors to make sure the items being purchased matches with the customer’s receipt. There’s also a lot of gear that needs to be moved around and ski racks that need to be set up.”
According to its website, the Bethel Outing Club attempts to “promote Nordic skiing as sport and recreation in the greater Bethel and western Maine area” and to “support recreational activities and family-oriented outings outdoors.”
Fimiani said the money raised at the sale will go toward funding and promoting “nordic skiing in the area.”
