NORTH ANSON — Josh Reny fed a through ball to Kyle Fletcher and the speedy Monmouth forward won a battle with Carrabec goalie Trent Richardson to push the ball over the goal line, lifting the Mustangs to a 1-0 win over the Cobras in MVC boys’ soccer action Wednesday.
Fletcher’s goal came in the first half. The Mustangs (7-4-0), led by Joe Menice and Ben Bolstridge, played solid defense the rest of the way in front of keeper Kasey Smith (14 saves) to preserve the win.
Richardson finished with 10 stops for Carrabec.
Gray-NG 6, Wells 0
GRAY — Tyler St. Pierre and Austin Carson each slipped in a pair of goals as Gray-New Gloucester (5-6-2) sideswiped Wells, 6-0, in a boys’ soccer game Wednesday.
The Patriots took a 3-0 lead in the first half. Jesse Ricardi and Tommy Cogswell each scored for Gray-New Gloucester, with St. Pierre picking up a pair of assists along the way. Noah Lobozzo and Spencer Harriman were credited with two assists apiece.
Patriots goalie Brendon McNally made three saves to preserve his shutout against Wells (3-10).
Girls’ soccer
Hall-Dale 2, Dirigo 1
DIXFIELD — Lilly Ly and Maura Stottler netted a goal each for Hall-Dale as the Bulldogs edged Dirigo 2-1 in girls’ soccer action Wednesday.
Meghan Bradbury scored the lone goal for the Cougars (4-8), while Mariah Lafleur stopped 12 Hall-Dale shots.
Olivia Maynard turned back three Cougar chances to earn the win.
